Is there an Assembly Language for Philosophy?

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009
philosophy
H. Hornblower asked:

In philosophy it seams that the largest part of most works in any language are dedicated to explaining the particular meaning of the specific vernacular as intended by the author.

When programming computers we commonly use a higher level languages to make the code understandable by humans, but C++ or Java can have many different implementations which will result in the same Assembly and the same Machine Codes. Machine language is to low, and only really good for the computer. Assembly though is simple, constant and meaningfully to humans.
So is there a language which is consistent and meaningful with a strictly limited vernacular; which can be expanded into a higher language for human convince, but can always be compiled back to the original?

Confused Lovesick Jebus asked:

Sum1 on here said that “anti feminists subscribe to a philosophy against some thing positive”, which I thought was ridiculous as from what I’ve seen they don’t even call themselves anti-feminists, feminists do. Whereas the same is not true for feminists who usually call themselves as such.
You could quite easily describe “feminism philosophy as either a good or bad thing- equality/man ****.

What is the one principle underlying your political philosophy?

Joe S asked:

I’ll get the ball rolling. The central principle to my philosophy is the concept that every person owns him or herself. It is from this concept that proceeds the desire to consistently protect life, liberty and property.

If you can not name a central principle, please still consider answering by writing about how devoted you are to your political stances.

I will select a best answer based upon how thorough and well thought-out it is even if it differs from my own philosophy.
Gee, Lettie! You make it tempting to choose your answer. I won’t only out a desire to appear too vain. I thank you for the compliment though.

If you ever care to closely scrutinize my broader political philosophies, you’ll find that every single one of them follows from this most basic ideal (if not, please call me out on it – I value consistency). While I don’t mind conflicting opinions, my political discussions (including Q&A here) are aimed at helping people to see when their actions violate this ideal and to seriously question whether they are okay with such violations.
PROFESSOR SQUIRTLE:

I did read Ayn Rand’s best known novels years ago. I admit that they do impact my opinions.

Scout asked:

I was wondering if anybody could give me personal insight as to the nature/content of the course. Also, if anybody has any personal stories/experiences to share, it would be greatly appreciated. I’m considering taking Philosophy in University but am hesitant because I don’t really know what I’d do with a degree in that particular subject. I understand that I would likely need to continue my education after getting my undergrad. Thanks for the advice. =)
