What is the one incontrovertible truth found in all science, philosophy, and religion?
Friday, January 29th, 2010askyourmind asked:
I was brought up in a very strong Christian environment. Unlike my brothers and sisters I was never able to embrace Christianity so I began looking for alternative explanations for our genesis and why the world is how it is. I looked to science and evolution, eastern philosophy, and my own observations of human interaction and from this wealth of human knowledge was able to discern one incontrovertible truth which remains constant in all science, philosophy and religion. Can you tell me what it is?

If I want to major in philosophy at a community college, can I transfer to a university?

I’m going to go to centralia community college in Washington state, and I’m wondering if I take the standard philosophy classes for two years will I be able to get into a nearby university to get into a higher study of philosophy? What universities nearby offer that possibility?

How to cope with obsessive thoughts about philosophy?
Thursday, January 28th, 2010stratman687 asked:
I have been thinking about philosophy, metaphysics, epiphenomenalism, quantum mechanics, science, death, and the meaning of life obsessively for the past 6 months. I haven’t been able to enjoy life at all… I am currently getting psychotherapy with a social worker but it’s been a bit slow… Is there anybody who has had the same problem and how they cope with it?

Basically I have to write how philosophy has contributed to modern psychology and what it’s influences are today. I know I have to include greek philosophy and renaissance philosophy but I have no idea how they have helped or what websites to get the info from. I have tried google-ing but to be honest, I don’t know what i’m looking for! Any help will be greatly appreciated because i’m just so stuck!

What can you do with a Philosophy degree?
Wednesday, January 27th, 2010nat asked:
I’m fascinated with Philosophy and I’d love to major in that, something I could actually enjoy. But as far as I know there’s not really any good paying jobs with a Philosophy degree and the only option really is to get your Master’s or PhD and teach. Does anyone know anything else you could do with a Philosophy degree?
